There is an absolutely beautiful 66 Corsa coupe with a Toro conversion in Seattle. This is a Midnight Orchid car with white interior. Here's a link:

It definitely looks like an awesome car. I did a little research ... he spent 10+ years building this car ... you can find his posts as Greybeard on http://www.CorvairForum.com

Just a tickler: It's a 1966 Corsa with a 1966 Toronado drivetrain, built to be a sleeper. I believe the 425 has 455 rods, pistons, and crank; thus becoming a 455. Pretty cool. More photos can be seen at https://greybeard.shutterfly.com/

His name is Mike Mantle and he resides in Sequim, WA

John got me interested in it but I don't think I can swing it right now. Thanks John for finding it.

This Toro conversion is probably as nice as the TorVair or FireVair that you were so interested in. WA state is a long way off from Florida, but if the car meets your specifications, perhaps you should make an offer after it expires from Craig's List. It's a beautiful car, but the market for high priced exotic Corvairs is low. Wait a few weeks and call him back with an offer acceptable to you that will cover a plane trip and shipping. You don't know know how bad he wants to move this car. You might get lucky

Evening Orchid is not my favorite color either, but when it's a fresh paint job, I think that it's a very striking color that enhances the lines of the late body style. For a fast moving Vair, it's probably a great color.

Late to the party but as I've said before, I consider that car much nicer than any of my Toro conversions. I have not seen the car in person but Mike and I communicated quite a bit 5 to 6 years ago on Corvair form when we were both comparing our conversions. I don't remember how the radiator setup was so that might be the only thing I would want to learn a little bit more about before going further. He had the car for sale a couple years back but I guess didn't get any serious offers on it. I think he was asking roughly the same amount then as he is now.

Dave, are you having thoughts about adding the Evening Orchid Conversion to your collection? There is one other Registry member interested that I know of.

This car was owned by Mike Mantle, a non-member in WA. He sold it recently to Mike Martin in Oklahoma City, OK. Mike bought it site unseen and indicates that he got a good deal and a beautiful Evening Orchid 66 coupe.

Looks like there are still plenty of nice conversions out there. Be patient and they will show up.
