This weekend I am entering the Corvair in a local car show called The East Coast Nationals. It won't win anything but it will be fun to show off all the hard work.........anyway...........A friend of mine does some pretty outrageous bead rolling and offered to do some " performance " looking door panels and quarter panels for the car. The interior was pretty nice but was all wrong for the V8 version of the car. I went to my friends house tonight and picked up my new panels. I can hardly wait to put them in tomorrow but had to show them off.
The new driver's door panel
in this last shot you can see the console cover sitting above the quarter panel
Your friend is an artist with the bead roller. I have never seen bead rolled aluminum made to look like upholstery - especially the "stitching ". Truly a unique and new piece of work.
It took me a while to finally get around to doing the interior panels. Today, I added the driver side panels...………….They were close but I needed to make some changes...….only screwed up one...………………………...so this is how they look
I am with Rick ,, those do look GREAT ! I have seen many "Tin Interiors " before but never one like that ,, it is sure to get a lot of attention at your next show . Also nice looking center stack on your dashboard ,, switchpanel
See if I can answer some questions 1. The column is an Ididit 31 inch unit with turn signals and emergency flasher. 2. Switch panel...very old mod........I just changed over to roll up windows so middle 4 are no longer valid.........the end switches are the door popper switches
My buddy who did the panels just got married a couple of months ago..........he probably has more to do than make door panels.............but I could be wrong
The column was a snap to install. I need another steering wheel
